Taiwan historic current time
The time zone was determined by the Western Standard Time which is UTC +08:00 ruled the Japan Empire since January 1896 until September 1937. Actually, Taiwan used the Central Standard Time which is the UTC+9:00 utilized by Japan, from October 1937 until 1945 when Japan lost Taiwan after the World War II. So that, the current time in Taiwan changed in 1945 returning to the "Chungyuan Standard Time".
Crying out its independence, the government supported by the citizens abandoned the use the name of "Chungyuan", to replace it by a more justifiable name like the Taiwan Standard Time, Taipei Time or Formosan Time. Nowadays the only current time in Taiwan is called the National Standard Time.
The National Standard Time is the Taiwan's time zone.
Actually, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection which is managed by the government, is the only one capable and allowed to determine the current time in Taiwan. Moreover, The National Standard Time used in Taiwan is similar to China's time and its two territories of Hong Kong and Macau although all of them have their own authorities.
